Through the Court. I went to defendant's house after Yun's arrest. Defendant sent a boy to call me. I was not at home, but my wife told me and I went to see him next day. It then I got to his house it was about 1 p.m. It was not the same house; he had moved. He told me

Sam Yun had been arrested for about one month and a $1000 reward was offered. He asked, "Do you know anything about it?" I said I had heard about it. He said something about a list with hundreds of names. "Do you know whether my name is in it or not?" I said "I don't know". Then defendant asked me whether those people knew his name or not. I said "I don't think they know your name. They only know your alias 'a8 N° 12'."

To Mr. Robinson, on this fresh examination: I went to see defendant about some girls brought down from Canton on the 26th or 27th June. I did speak to Inspector Staunton about these girls on or about the 7th July, but I did not speak to defendant at that time. It was not on the 11th July that I went to see defendant about the girls.

To the Court: By "till" I understood "Sam fun" to mean "for a day". The time was mentioned. The day I went to see defendant after Sam Yun's arrest was on the 10th or 11th July last. I know nothing about the book or papers seized at East Street.

At 4.45pm the court is adjourned until 9:30 to-morrow.
